
FIRST is the global Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams. It is the premier organization and recognized global leader in computer security incident response. Membership of FIRST enables incident response teams to respond more effectively to security incidents reactively as well as proactively.
Sri Lanka CERT is a full member of FIRST and has been fully involved with the activities of this community since 2009. Currently FIRST has more than 300 members, these members are spread across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
The annual FIRST conference provides a setting for conference participants to attend a wide range of presentations delivered by leading experts in both the CSIRT field and from the global security community. The conference also creates opportunities for networking, collaboration, and sharing technical information and management practices.
The FIRST AGM & conference 2019, was held in Edinburgh, Scotland and it was a six-day event running from Sunday, 16th June 2019 to Friday, 21st June 2019.
The theme of the 2019 conference Defending the Castlewas Immediately following the FIRST conference, the CERT Coordination Center, Carnegie Mellon University, USA has been hosting an annual meeting for CSIRTs with national responsibility since 2006. This meeting provides an opportunity for National CERTs responsible for protecting the security of nations, economies, and critical infrastructures to meet and discuss the unique challenges of their roles.
This year, Mr. Rohana Palliyaguru (Director Operations of Sri Lanka CERT) was the chair of the CSIRT Management Track for the National CSIRT meeting.
This national CSIRT annual meeting was a two-day event running from Friday afternoon, 21st June to Saturday, 22nd June 2019.
